Wedding in the islands
The grooms party was at the gate. The welcome arch looked grand. The bride's
relatives had rushed to greet and meet. The music was on with grand nadaswaram
and all. The bride's aunt had the tilak ready. The boy who was to garland and
welcome the groom was missing. A regular 10 year old, he was cayght playing
friends and rushed to the gate with a garland thrusted into his arms. The
groom's bhabhis(sisters- in- law) were jostling one another to be in the front.
They arranged their gold ornaments and gajras. The nadaswaram reached the
crescendo.
The groom's and bride's parents greeted each other with pleasantries
such as,
"Welcome, how was the boat trip to the island?" "Oh! It was great. The
backwaters are so scenic. We enjoyed it much".
"Let me introduce the bride's
aunt. They are in Delhi and came down for the wedding"
"Oh! Delhi. It should hot
there now. Is it not?"
"It soars by may end. Now ok,"
Some elderly person cuts
in this pleasant conversation. "Speed up. It is almost muhurat time."
"yes.yes,"the groom's adds the groom's dad "But where is the groom?" The groom
is missing. His name is called out Aruuuunnn. About twenty heads turn but none
of them is the groom.
Seems in the rush to get on the boat to the island, he was
left on the other side.
Pandemonium Everyone starts talking at once. I saw him
standing near the boat. He helped me get on boat. oh poor thing...blah
